Deborah Willson is our April 2020 Referral Charity Program Winner!

Deborah chose Emmanuel Catholic Church as the recipient of the $500 April 2020 referral charity donation. Deborah enjoys Emmanuel because it is small, allowing them to focus on the community and helping people. She now wants to help them. Due to COVID-19, Emmanuel currently struggles to maintain some of their charitable activities, such as hosting a food pantry, a bazaar, and making donations to the poor. Deborah is no stranger to donating. She makes monthly donations to St Jude Children’s Research, Unbound, and Shriners Hospitals for Children.

Deborah was born and raised in New York. She spent 28 years working for the DMV, climbing from an entry-level position to an office manager position. In her spare time, she taught at her church, where she met her husband, Joseph. Deborah retired in 2010, moving to Florida around three years ago, and recently celebrated her 6th anniversary with Joseph.

Deborah and Joseph are active, spending much of her free time gardening and exercising. They love to walk, go to the gym, and swim together. Their favorite activity, however, is traveling. Deborah and Joseph have seen much of the world. They’ve traveled to England, Scotland, Ireland, Italy, the Caribbean, Spain, and the Canary Islands, to name a few. They had plans to go on more cruises; unfortunately, due to the COVID-19 outbreak, those plans have been postponed. They are not letting that hold them back, as they are looking forward to several cruises approaching in the coming months. They are hoping that COVID-19 will be under control by then.

Emmanuel Catholic Church

Emmanuel Catholic Church is a faithful community of believers dedicated to proclaiming the gospel of Jesus Christ as taught by the Roman Catholic Church through word, sacrament, and service. As one parish family of God, they live by faith, truth, and love as we value the sanctity of life in all its stages and make the Holy Eucharist the center of our lives. Through the Holy Spirit’s guidance, they desire to be witnesses of God’s presence as they share their gifts of time, talent, and treasure with God’s Family.

Their outreach is an activity of providing services to any populations who might not otherwise have access to those services. Serving in this ministry means visiting and/or bringing the Eucharist to people in need.
