Tara Betancourt is our November 2019 Referral Charity Program Winner!

Tara Betancourt chose Treasure Coast Foster Closet to be the recipient of the $500 November 2019 referral charity donation. Tara chose Foster Closet because of the work they do to help families who foster children.

Tara considers herself a lifelong Floridian. Born in New York, Tara’s family moved to Florida when she was six-years-old where she grew up and now raises her family. While working on her degree in paralegal sciences, a friend suggested Tara would be a great mortgage lender. She took that advice to heart, finished her degree, and went to work building a career in the mortgage lending field. It has been six years since she became a mortgage lender. Six years later, Tara still values being able to bring happiness to people regularly, which helps keep her passionate about her job. Tara has been married to her husband, Randy, who works in web security for over two years. Tara, her husband, Randy, and their daughter live happily together in Port St Lucie, where they are in the process of building their new home.

Treasure Coast Foster Closet

Treasure Coast Foster Closet is a nonprofit organization that provides local foster families with like-new children’s items that are donated by their generous community. Most people are unaware that the majority of children coming into foster care come with only the clothes on their backs.

Foster families do not pay for this service, everything in their store is 100% free to them, and they don’t put limits on how much families can take. They give their foster families 24/7 access to their facility. They serve every child in the foster family. They want to ensure the sacrifice that “foster siblings” make to be able to care for extra children isn’t overlooked.

Their ministry provides so much more than just physical needs for foster families. These families that are serving on the front lines of foster care are able to know that their community sees their sacrifice and wants to rally around them and support them. When families utilize their service, they can focus their resources, time, and attention on loving these children.

Since their services are 100% free, they rely solely on the financial support from individuals just like YOU! They have no paid staff members; this is truly a labor of love.
